Symbolism
The Olive tree is one of the most beloved, sacred trees and its place is firmly rooted in Ancient Greek tradition and mythology.
Traditionally, the olive tree is a symbol of peace and friendship, this association began in ancient Greece, as early as the fifth century.
Legend has it that Zeus proposed a contest between Athena and Poseidon for the control of Athens. Poseidon smashed his three-pronged trident upon the hard rock of the Acropolis, which unleashed a spring. Whilst Athena, produced an Olive tree, with its silvery-green leaves and abundance of rich fruits.
The Athenians chose Athena’s gift and, in turn, the Olive tree has remained a much-loved part of Greek life ever since!

Tree Care
Every Olive tree is growing in its organic pot filled with top-notch compost, so no green fingers are required, just natural daylight and water. We have added special nutrients to your tree’s compost to create the perfect balance of nourishment. This organic goodness will release into the soil to ensure your tree continues to flourish.
Your Olive tree will happily grow in its organic pot for the next few weeks, just place it in a sunny spot in the garden or a cool conservatory. Olive trees appreciate being drenched with water when the surface soil is almost dry.
Plant your Olive tree, still in its organic pot, so the roots are not disturbed, in a large flower pot (one with holes so excess water can drain away). Your Olive tree will thrive in a sunny spot in the garden, a bright porch or cool conservatory. It will require the winter chill to encourage its spring blossoms and can tolerate temperatures as low as -5C.
The Present Tree's Organic Plant Care is packed with all the health-boosting goodness suitable for your Olive tree. Click here for more details.
Tree Height
This Olive tree is 50-60cm high. It may be lightly pruned in early spring and will reach a height of 2 metres in 15 years, if allowed to grow naturally.
Your parcel travels in a clear eco bag so the couriers and recipients are aware a living tree is inside it and must be opened as soon as possible.
