Fig tree

This beautifully wrapped Fig tree will happily grow in a sunny, sheltered garden, a cool conservatory or bright greenhouse. Its sweet, fleshy figs will ripen every autumn and can be eaten straight from the tree!

This Fig tree is organically nurtured in The Present Tree's gardens. When you place your order, a beautiful Fig tree, botanical name: Ficus carica, will be freshly selected by our devoted gardeners here, before being wrapped and placed in its luxury parcel.

This Fig tree (total height 50cm+ or 30cm+) has recently been pruned back to encourage new growth (and fruit!) in spring. It will reach a height of 2 metres in 5 years, if allowed to grow naturally.

A card with your personal message, the story of the Fig tree's ancient symbolism and a full care guide is also enclosed with your gift. Add a personalised brass heart, star or plaque (see images) engraved with your message so this special gift is always remembered.

This deciduous tree naturally sheds its leaves every autumn and will remain in its dormant phase all winter. Fresh, new leaves will grow in spring and it’s well worth the wait. Read more about deciduous trees here.

In ancient mythology the Fig tree symbolises wisdom, enlightenment and future success.

Your Fig tree is growing in its organic pot filled with top-notch compost, so no green fingers are required, just natural daylight and water. We never use harmful chemicals or pesticides, just a health-boosting blend of organic oils so every Fig tree is super healthy. We have added nutrients to your tree’s compost to create the perfect balance of nourishment. This organic goodness will slowly release into the soil to ensure your Fig tree continues to flourish.

The organic pot will gradually biodegrade over several weeks. Then it will be time to plant your tree, still in its organic pot so the roots are not disturbed, in a large flower pot (one with holes for drainage) or in a sunny, sheltered spot in the garden. It will appreciate a wall or fence for support and shelter as it grows. Read more tips here on how to plant a tree in a pot.

The Present Tree's Organic Plant Care Kit is packed with all the health-boosting goodness suitable for your Fig tree. Click here for more details.
