Bay tree

This beautifully wrapped Bay tree has glossy, evergreen leaves all year. Its pale yellow flowers, which blossom in spring, are loved by our bees and butterflies. The Bay tree has been treasured for centuries for its aromatic leaves which add a delicious flavour to soups and stews. This dense foliage is also wonderful for our garden birds to safely make their nests. The Bay tree will happily thrive in any garden or balcony and can be clipped into a formal shape using topiary.

When you place your order a beautiful Bay tree, botanical name: Laurus nobilis, will be freshly selected by our devoted gardeners here, before being carefully wrapped and placed in a luxury parcel.

This Bay tree will enjoy being pruned in early spring and may reach a height of 2 metres in 10 years, if allowed to grow naturally.

A card with your personal message, the story of the Bay tree's ancient symbolism and a full care guide is also enclosed with your gift. Add a personalised brass heart, star or plaque (see images) engraved with your message so this special gift is always remembered.

In ancient mythology the Bay is a sacred tree which symbolises courage, protection and strength. It also protects the dwelling by which it grows.

Every Bay tree is growing in its organic pot filled with top-notch compost, so no green fingers are required, just natural daylight and water. We have added special nutrients to your tree’s compost to create the perfect balance of nourishment. This organic goodness will release into the soil for several months to ensure your tree continues to flourish.

In a few weeks, plant your tree, still in its organic pot so the roots are not disturbed, in a large outdoor flower pot (one with holes so excess water can drain away) or plant in a sunny spot in the garden.
